I’m a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame studying journalism and film.
On this blog, I hope to combine those passions.
Originally from the Chicagoland area, I first grew interested in movies through the late, great Roger Ebert, whose writing and TV show inspired me (and many others) to pursue film criticism ourselves. That was nearly a decade ago, and I’ve been writing about movies (mostly for myself) on various platforms ever since.
In lieu of an exhaustive list of my favorite films, I encourage you instead to follow me on Letterboxd. I can’t review everything I see, but since joining the site in 2017 I’ve made sure, at the very least, to rate what I watch. Sometimes with a blurb or two.
That being said, most every post on this blog was originally published in The Observer, Notre Dame’s daily student newspaper. You can read my work in its original form here.
And do consider following The Grain of Salt! The button can be found at the bottom of this (and every) page.
So, happy reading! I’ll see you at the movies.
